Buffalo Trace Distillery proudly presents the 26th release from its groundbreaking Experimental Collection: Spirits Distilled from Grain and Hops. This latest addition exemplifies the Distillery’s philosophy of “Honor Tradition, Embrace Change,” as it explores how hops—typically used in beer production—affect a spirit’s flavor profile.

Crafted over a decade ago, Spirits Distilled from Grain and Hops is the result of Master Distiller Harlen Wheatley’s curiosity about the influence of hops on whiskey. He infused two distinct hop varieties—Saaz noble hops and Zythos®—into a raw distillate, allowing them to steep for 30 minutes before redistilling and aging the spirit in charred white oak barrels for over 11 years. This process imparts a unique balance of hoppy aromas and flavors, while retaining the depth of traditional whiskey characteristics.

Bottled at 90-proof, the spirit offers a vibrant nose of citrus and herbal hop notes, layered with creamy vanilla and seasoned oak. On the palate, bright lemon and orange zest mix with fresh herbal flavors and robust oak, while the finish remains clean and refreshing. A perfect balance of bitterness and oakiness emerges, making this spirit ideal for sipping neat or as a unique base for cocktails like a hopped-up Manhattan.
