Glenmorangie presents a remarkable collaboration between its Director of Whisky Creation, Dr. Bill Lumsden, and Japanese botanical artist Azuma Makoto. This limited-edition Highland single malt Scotch whisky, aged 23 years, celebrates the beauty and complexity of nature, embracing the Japanese concept of shinra bansho—the interconnectedness of all things in the natural world.
This single malt is a harmonious blend of Glenmorangie’s signature floral notes and earthy undertones. Starting with a classic Glenmorangie aged in bourbon casks, Lumsden introduced a groundbreaking finish in Chardonnay casks from the renowned Meursault appellation in Burgundy. The result is a whisky of exceptional depth, with bright notes of lemon balsam, poached pears, and orchids layered with rich cocoa powder and the oaky, mossy tones of a forest floor.
Makoto’s botanical artistry, inspired by the whisky’s flavor profile and the Highland surroundings, is featured on the striking packaging, embodying the essence of this rare spirit. Together, Lumsden and Makoto have created a masterpiece that captures the wonder of nature in every sip.
